About

In 1986 God led me into the most exciting part of my life. He began to teach me what it means to “go make disciples”. I had been an apartment manager for 8 years prior to this. I thought of this only as my JOB to make money to support my family. I never thought of it as a way to reach people for Christ. As I was seeking His plan for my future, an apartment manager called to ask for someone to come live on her property and provide activities and classes for her residents. She was having a difficult time getting people to move to her property. When they did move in, they often moved out within 6 to 12 months. She needed help and she thought that people from church would be good people to assist. This was the beginning of a life long learning and teaching experience.

I moved to this property and started a Bible study. No one came but 2 ladies who were already believers. With 520 apartments in this community, this did not seem to be the way to reach those who were not believers. Our church planned 2 other events to develop relationships with more residents. These events featured helping them to dress better on a low income budget and to be able to make their money go further. No one came to either event because we had insulted them but making them think they did not look good and did not know how to spend their money. They felt we were trying to tell them we were better than they were, and were trying to make them like us.

God seemed to tell us to find out what the residents wanted and needed. We developed a survey and went door-to-door to do just that. God was teaching us how to develop relationships. These residents wanted help for their children and teens. The 35 Korean families needed to learn English. The adults also wanted a craft class so they could make items to decorate their homes and make things for themselves. In 5 months time 78 people came to know Christ – 152 in the first year. Many kids and teens were getting better grades and adults were learning how to become better parents.

From this first place, I went to work with the Union Baptist Association in Houston, Texas to assist more churches inMultihousing Missions. There were 96 communities developed within the next few years. From there I went to New York City for 4 years, Las Vegas, Nevada for 4 years,  Dallas, Texas for the last 10 years. I also led training in most of the US as well as India and Holland during these years. There have been thousands of apartment residents ministered to during these years and many who have come to know the Lord.

This is the largest unreached people group in the United States. Ninety Six percent of apartment residents living in the United States do not go to church anywhere. Apartment managers across our nation are asking for churches to come to provide ongoing activities and classes for their residents. If you thought of each of these communities as villages, you would probably jump at the chance to reach out. Texas Multihousing Consulting wants to help. We would love to come work with your church to assist you to begin and sustain a ministry, even a church plant, in an apartment community. All you need is the desire and, together, we can do the rest. Go to the contact page and give us a call or email me at the address given there. We don’t know how long this door will be open. Let’s walk through it while we can!
